About the Project
Veterans Q got it’s start as a competition barbecue team which spiraled into an expanding line of rubs and barbecue sauces. Their purpose for the brand is to give back a portion of their profits to those who give up their safety to protect us while serving in the military.
My role as the designer for VQ has included working on projects such as the label design for their rubs and sauces, design of point-of-purchase marketing materials such as tablecloth and freestanding banner, and marketing projects such as shirt design and clings.
When starting any project for VQ, there is usually a phone call to go over the ins and outs of the project. The owner is conscientious of keeping costs down. With this in mind, we’ve kept the label design down to a two color design scheme. The other requirement for the design of the labels was to make sure the bottles would stand out among the competition on store shelves.

Creating impactful design for a company that gives back is incredibly rewarding.
Veterans Q is much more than just their sauce. They started as a competition barbecue team in September 2015 which won them numerous awards. This blossomed into a catering side hussle on the insistence of family, friends, and neighbors in 2016. After many requests for the sauce VQ used, they decided to make, bottle, and sell their sauce out of their kitchen.
Now a fully operational business, VQ found itself getting some national attention. Not only can you find it on major store shelves across the country, the sauce is listed as #4 in a list of the Best Damn Barbecue Sauces in American in Maxim magazine.
